This is an excellent resource Brian! Thanks so much for posting the link. You might be interested in a webinar WebJunction recently held with the folks from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services about the newly updated Naturalization test - but it sounds like SFPL is already on top of the changes!

You may want to check out and link to our new U.S. Citizenship webpage designed to help library users prepare for the changes to the USCIS naturalization exam.

We designed these resources to help users navigate the processes in their own language, assist library staff in helping patrons in other languages, and support outside organizations/libraries assist individuals with the citizenship exam.

One of the resources listed there is the Essential Guide to Spanish Reading. You can download the entire guide or if you contact America Reads Spanish you can get a free paperback copy. Several librarians in REFORMA contributed to this guide.

The other resource that many libraries find helpful when they are just beginning to build a collection is OCLC's Language Sets: http://www.oclc.org/languagesets/default.htm

Spanish Language Core Materials

I have the assignment of suggesting some core spanish language materials for our library. Right now, we have only two families (Spanish speaking parents) regularly using our library for school assignments. We would like to provide some good materials in each age group; early childhood, juvenile, young adult, and adult. Any suggestions?
