What are Courses

Online self-paced courses are available to WebJunction members who are sponsored by their state library through the WebJunction Partner Program. Each courses may be as short as one hour or may be several hours long. Most of the courses have been developed by by three primary course providers: SkillSoft, LibraryU, and University of North Texas (UNT-LE@D). How to Use the Course Catalog

Self-paced online courses are hosted on the websites of our state library agency Partners. In order to access the catalog, you must:

  1. Be approved by your state library to have access to the catalog. (See Affiliations).
  2. Sign in to WebJunction with your username and password.
  3. View the catalog on your state’s version of WebJunction to enroll in any course.

Locate a Course

Search: Enter your search terms in the Search box in the catalog, or in the Search box in the top right corner of any WebJunction page.

Browse: Courses are grouped by subject area in the Catalog. The number of courses available is listed next to each subject area. Click on the subject area to see the list of courses.

Click on the title of a course to view details such as format, length and description of the course.

 

 

To add a course to your My Courses page, first click Add to Cart.

 

Select a course and click Add to Cart

You may add as many courses as you would like to your Cart. When you have selected all of the courses you wish to use for now, click Go to Cart.

 

When ready to enroll, click Go to cart

Click Proceed to Checkout. You will not be charged for any course, as they have been paid for through your state library's participation in the WebJunction Partner Program.

A confirmation message will display with a confirmation number and further instructions for launching your course.

Important: For LE@D (UNT) courses, launch your course from your My Courses page and follow the instructions for requesting course login credentials from UNT.

Launch your course through My Courses

 

My Courses

The My Courses page is your place for managing and tracking your course activity on WebJunction. You can access the My Courses page from your My Account portlet. Once you have purchased a course, you can access and launch your course from the My Courses page.

Only the first couple of courses are displayed under each section of My Courses. Use the Show All link to display the full list of courses. Courses are listed in alphabetical order.

 

My Courses page

1. Scheduled Courses

  • A list of in-progress scheduled courses that you are enrolled in.
  • When your course is scheduled to begin, you can start the course by clicking Launch Course.
  • Once you have launched a course, you can comment on it by clicking Add Your Comment.
  • You can recommend the course to a friend any time by clicking Recommend to a Friend.

2. Self-Paced Courses

  • A list of in-progress self-paced courses that you are enrolled in.
  • You can begin the course or return to it any time before completing it by clicking Launch Course.
  • Once you have launched a course you can comment on it by clicking Add Your Comment.
  • You can recommend the course to a friend any time by clicking Recommend to a Friend.

3. Recommendations for You

  • A list of courses that have been recommended to you by other WebJunction members.

4. Courses History

  • A list of self-paced courses you have completed that have not expired. You can access these courses any time before they expire.
  • A list of courses you've completed that have expired. You cannot access courses once they have expired.
  • A list of all the courses (scheduled and self-paced) that you have completed.
  • Place to print certificates for courses that you have completed.

Course Codes

As an alternative to the WebJunction Partner Program, some library organizations have prepurchased a bulk number of courses for library staff. If your organization has provided you with a course code to use enroll in course, then you can apply the code for only those courses listed in the catalog at vcp.webjunction.org.

Follow above instructions under "How to Use the Course Catalog" to browse and search for courses.

When you are ready to make a course purchase, enter a course code in the field next to Course Code and click Apply Course Codes. Continue with the instructions as described above.
