Welcome to the Learn Together Project!
5:41 PM EST 2/27/09
I'm so excited to be a part of this social learning experiment! It's something I've been looking forward to ever since we launched WJ's new set of tools that enable us to connect with each other in ways that help make the learning experience more interactive, engaging, supportive and relevant!

I'm so glad you're here!

I've registered for the course, and started to poke around, and can't wait until the Kick-off meeting March 12.

I'll be checking the group discussions, attending the live meetings, and encouraging you to post your thoughts, ideas and examples of how you have benefited from this course.

A couple of tips and recommendations if you've decided to "learn together" with us:
  • Join by clicking on "Join Group" in the Group Members box. When you want to go back to the Group page, log into WJ and click on “My WebJunction” tab. You can access all of your Groups, Courses, Bookmarks and other WJ activities on your own customized page.
  • If you need help, please see the WebJunction User Guide for information on everything from course registration, posting discussions, submitting documents and adding an avatar!

Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions to start and remember, this is an experiment, so your input will help us improve "learning together" in the future!

Jennifer, I'm excited too! I've been doing some reading on social learning and I'm eager to put some of the ideas into practice.

I consider myself to be a pretty self-motivated person, but I find it challenging to take self-paced courses. In November, Jenn and I did an internal pilot cohort with 4 others on our team. I found it made all the difference---not just in finishing the course but even getting started. We got some really interesting discussions going.

I'm curious if there are particular challenges any of you face in terms of customer service. I've looked at the first chapter of this Customer Voice course and I'm finding some intriguing ways to think of the material in terms of library service. There will be plenty of food for thought around the commonalities and differences between customer service in libraries and business.

So, welcome! emoticon

Hi! I'm glad to be here as well. As our roles at WJ often shift, I will be working more closely with our Community Partners so I am excited about the topic of this course. I think Betha's mention of self-motivation is key to the success of completing an online self-paced course. With so many competing priorities, it is all too easy to push-off daily learning to the next day...and then the day after that. My goal is to make this Learn Together Project part of my weekly work, and to carve out time appropriately.

I look forward to kicking off the project this week and I am excited to meet the others in the group!

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to be part of this learning experience. I've just finished (or will finish this week) winter quarter at Drexel University and I'm ready to get started with this course on WJ!

I have a conflict with the kick-off meeting but I hope to make it to the Mid-course Check-in.

I look forward to learning with you all!
