Evernote or OneNote?
9:21 PM EST 1/19/09
Derek, this is a vital topic. I could tell you tapped a nerve by the number of people who registered for this webinar.

Of all the PIM tools you mentioned, Evernote is the one that got my attention. It's the one that can read text inside a photo! (how does it do that?) I've been using OneNote for a similar function. It's an application on my laptop, not Web-based --one strike against it.

Can anyone tell me more about how they're using Evernote?

I use Evernote to store things (text mostly) that just doesn't go anywhere else. It's not an event, it's not a todo item, it's not a big document or spreadsheet. That usually leaves, short notes, receipts from internet purchases, lists, quotes, ideas, etc. I love the fact that I can email information into my Evernote account, including photos from my phone.

The image-text recognition is awesome. I have, in the past, written notes on a scrap of paper and then photographed it with my phone camera and sent it in to Evernote. I can then search to find that text.

Evernote has a PC and a Mac application that will sync your data between your computer and the online access. Sadly, it only runs on the latest version of Mac OS X, which I am still lacking, so I don't have any experience with it.
