A group for WJ Topic Moderators. Join this group if you already moderate a topic on WebJunction, or if you'd like to become a topic moderator!
We are in the process of re-launching our member moderator program and will use this group to connect with both past and future moderators and to update you on the roll-out of plans.
If you're interested in hearing more about plans for Topic Moderation, please access the August 18 webinar archive, Advanced Engagement on WebJunction. Below is information we shared in an email sent to existing moderators and advocates.
The new tools we are rolling out on WebJunction will help shift us to a contributor-based model for maintaining and growing the site. We hope you’ll join us in welcoming and encouraging new and returning WJ members as they explore the resources and features in their new context. As advocates and moderators, you have done an excellent job of modeling participation; we’re excited to see how the expanded functionality will improve the ways you can contribute. Here is some specific information about the transition that may relate to some of your previous involvement on the site:
- Discussion forums are no longer in a separate environment; they have been integrated with the relevant resource topic areas. For those of you who have served as forum moderators, your permissions have not been re-associated with the site topic areas at this time. Don’t worry, we plan to connect with you over the coming months to renew your moderator permissions, but would like to give you time to explore the new site and to see how the changes impact user engagement. Until then, you’ll find information about Migrated Discussions in the Member Center to point you to the locations of the discussions you have been following or moderating.
- Interested members will now be able to expand their moderator role to encompass both discussion and resource document moderation, in a new role we’ll be calling WJ Topic Moderators. You will hear more about this role in the coming months, but in the meantime, please join this group, be sure to read through the information on the Contribute page, and join the Experience WJ Project.
- Your traditional role of helping to onboard and greet other members can now go beyond responding to a discussion post. For example, you can “friend” them, comment on their member profile, recommend content, courses, or discussions; or invite them to join a group.
- We’ll also be looking for your input as we continue to address user needs. Please take the time to share your feedback as you explore the new site.
Thank you again for all your dedication to building the resources and community of WebJunction.
