XX Public Access Computer Hardware Upgrade Grant Program   
Information and resources for libraries particpating in the Hardware Upgrade Grant Program

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation   has partnered with WebJunction to administer this one-time grant program. The goal is to assist libraries  granted computers between 1997 and 2000 in upgrading their systems with hardware which will be easier to support and upgrade in the future. WebJunction has customized TechAtlas, a suite of online technology planning tools created by NPower, to help implement this program because of the unique services and resources is has to offer libraries. We've created this WebJunction page to direct you to the resources developed specifically to aid the participants in the program.

Training
State Library Agencies will provide training and TechAtlas account login information to the individual libraries. In addition to training offered by each state agency, the following training resources are available:

  • WebJunction’s Qualifying for Hardware Upgrade Funds with TechAtlas  online course for eligible libraries provides online training for the process libraries need to complete to qualify for funds.
  • Using TechAtlas to Qualify for Hardware Upgrade Funds: An Easy Guide - step-by-step instructions for the process required to qualify for grant funds.
  • Using TechAtlas to Qualify for Hardware Upgrade Funds: A Quick Guide  - a quick instruction sheet for the process that omits the detailed how-to instructions.

Log On to TechAtlas
To qualify for grant funds, your library needs to complete a Public Access Computer Inventory. Once you have received your login information, you can log in to TechAtlas.

Support
The primary source of information and support for completing the qualification process will be each State Library Agency. Additional support is available through the following:

  • WebJunction support forum - a place to get more information and questions answered. Monitored by WebJunction staff. Anyone can view the forum, but you need to create a free WebJunction membership to post.
  • PAC HUG State Support Contact List – A list of who to contact in your state if you have questions about qualifying for funds.
  • Completing the Hardware Upgrade Grant Computer Inventory FAQ – frequently asked questions on the grant process and using TechAtlas to successfully qualify for upgrade funds.

Future Info
As the program progresses, updated information related to the program will continue to be posted here. This may include information about technology planning through TechAtlas, and resources to aid in purchasing and sustaining Public Access Computer hardware, software and support.
