Current funding for the Gi21 program ended on September 30, 2008 and the information found in the program modules is up-to-date as of December 31, 2008.  To facilitate use of the modules from now till the future continuation of the program, new documents can be posted from each module and sub-module main pages and the community discussions are open.  However the main module pages and documents will not be updated.  If you have any questions, please contact Kirsten Clark.

The U.S. Department of Education has set guidelines on developing standards, assessment and accountability for public education in the United States. However, standards themselves are set at the state level, so links to the web pages for each of the five states are provided as well.

U. S. Department of Education: Standards, Assessment and Accountability

http://www.ed.gov/admins/lead/account/saa.html

Provides information on standards, assessment, and accountability, including those efforts required under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). These include the Adequate Yearly Progress provisions, regulations, guidance and resources, and the Standards and Assessment Peer Review program.

From the Department of Education's FAQ page, "...there are no federally sanctioned national standards for any academic area. Instead, standards are set at the state level." Below are links to the standards and assessment websites for each of the five grant states, as well as their Adequate Yearly Progress reports, as required by the No Child Left Behind Act. Unfortunately, because these areas are not federally regulated, the information is not uniformly provided for each state.
