Current funding for the Gi21 program ended on September 30, 2008 and the information found in the program modules is up-to-date as of December 31, 2008.  To facilitate use of the modules from now till the future continuation of the program, new documents can be posted from each module and sub-module main pages and the community discussions are open.  However the main module pages and documents will not be updated.  If you have any questions, please contact Kirsten Clark.

  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

    Provides daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings, and climate monitoring.  They assist with fisheries management, coastal restoration, and supporting marine commerce.  Their producst and services support economic vitality and affect more than one-third of America's gross national product.

    NOAA prepared information specially geared toward children in honor of the "Year of the Ocean." The page provides links to educational information and activities including Puffy the Puffer's Fun Facts.

    Offers access to selected citations and a link to a comprehensive list of National Undersea Research Program sponsored publications. There are historical documents, including a letter from Benjamin Franklin describing and mapping the Gulf Stream, descriptions of NOAA programs and the offices engaged in oceanic exploration, and readings for ocean explorers.

    The EPA Climate Change Kids Site has the most up-to-date information about climate, weather, and change, than all the other gov sites that I investigated. It offers access to definitions and explanations, animations, and why it is important to study our climate and how we can make a difference.
