Science.gov is a gateway to over 50 million pages of authoritative selected interdisciplinary science information provided by U.S. government agencies, including research and development results. Science.gov provides one search that searches multiple data sources and searches the deep web (where most popular search engines do not search). Science.gov offers an alert service – e-mail notifications of changes to database within certain subject area (of one's choice) and in an alert archive (provides the last 6 weeks of alerts). This website is maintained by NTIS and hosted by the Department of Energy’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI).

One can explore selected science web sites by topic or search the entire site. The results return in a relevance order. Many of the results are also in full text. Advanced search is also offered allowing one to select or deselect sources as well as selecting time periods.
