What Questions Can Librarians Answer?
Provides background into the types of legal questions librarians can answer and knowing when to refer questions for legal help. Provides links to resources for legal assistance and lawyer referral.

Because of the nature of legal information, Library Staff walk a fine line between helping a patron find information on a legal issue and helping them interprete the information.

While specific to the state of Arizona, the below guides, created for court personnel, provide an outline to helping patrons find information on basic legal questions, and not interpreting the information for the patron.

When to Refer

When library staff understand the types of questions they can answer, they will then need to know when to refer questions and how to provide a referral.
