“The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Registry, coordinated by the Department of Justice, is a cooperative effort between
the state agencies hosting public sexual offender registries and the federal government. This web site is a search tool allowing
a user to submit a single national query to obtain information about sex offenders through a number of search options.” The
site can be searched by name, zip code, county (if provided by the state), city/town (if provided by the state), state (one
or multiple), or by conducting a national search.
Example A patron is in the process of procuring day care for her young children and she has narrowed it down to two providers, one
of which is operated out of a private residence, and another who is a family friend, who lives in an apartment complex. This
patron wants to ensure the safety of her children and is seeking information about possible sex offenders who reside in the
zip codes of the providers. The former is located on Columbine Street in the 80206 zip code area, and the latter at 5095 E
Donald Ave., Denver, CO, 80222.
