http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/ Published since 1878, the Statistical Abstract (also sometimes called the National Data Book) is the authoritative and comprehensive
summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. It can be used as a convenient
volume for statistical reference, and as a guide to sources of more information both in print and on the Web.
Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal
agencies and private organizations. Sections are browsable by topic, and each category brings up individual tables with .pdf
or excel results. Scanned historical data is also available back to the initial volume, and users can find this by clicking
"Earlier Editions" on the first page. The page also links to "Historical Statistics of the United States, Colonial Times to
1970."
